Chinese Dim Sum.. - A new Restaurant in TOwn..

This restaurant is very chinese, it is like back to the oldies.. except that they have air-condition in replacement for the ceiling fan, and the restaurant workers wore black instead of the usual white.. i have a feeling that it is a mixture ...modern yet oldies...wwahhh...what a feeling !

Mung Beans Pumpkin Dessert


Hey, sorry to keep you waiting.... just 2 days ago i tried cooking this dessert. A friend gave me this wonderful delicious recipe. It is Mung Bean Pumpkin Dessert. Simple, inexpensive yet delicious..

Gula Melaka..a local brown sugar...





Pumpkin is full of nutrition...



Mung Beans has a cooling effect.... all 3 mixed together makes a perfect dessert !!



These are all the 3 ingredients to make this delicious dessert. Gula Melaka add to taste according to individual.

English Apple muffins




The other day i posted the Apple Muffins..today i made it again. This time i have take picture of my work..!
this recipe is so simple, one of our great grandmother's recipe ... no mixer needed... yet healthy and economical !!


all ingredients are sieve and mixed and folded in by hand..




ready to serve....eeemmm...



see the apple cubes in the muffin... it smells aromatic...of cinnamon ..



apple muffins must have apple as one of the ingredients..

for someone who has participated in so many exhibitions must have won a lot of prizes...how can i forgot to mention... .. pardon me..ok..

my teacher has won First prize in watercolour held by National Art Gallery (KL) in 1963, consolation prize held by National investment bhd (KL) in 1985, Creative prize held by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Alumni Association (KL) in 1992.

she teaches Children Art, watercolour, ink painting, and Chinese calligraphy.

More on my Teacher and her paintings..

My teacher Hong Pok Giak is one of the many famous Chinese Malaysian artist. Born in Penang and graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Art, Singapore in 1965, she has received numerous awards for her work.


She has participated in several exhibitions in Shantou and Gulin China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. Her collections can be seen in our Bank Negara Malaysia, National Art Gallery, Pemodalan National Bhd, Taiwan Province Art Gallery, China Guilin Museum, Malaysia Institute of Art, Kuala Lumpur and various local and overseas private collections.


a professional artist, she teaches in Selangor and KL Chin Woo Athletic Association and various school of children Art.

this is the Art Exhibition in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, 25th anniversary of Nafa Alumni Association Malaysia

A masterpiece of a typical malaysia "kampung".... meaning village..

i like this painting...it reminds me of my "kampung" in Borneo... cool misty morning, safe and quiet is the atmosphere i experienced every morning when i walk to the jetty to board "my school boat' to school, which is located across the Rejang river... ooh...i missed "home"...

Stir-Fried Chinese Rice Stick Noodles..

My dear friends....

i am sure you know the much loved chinese dish of stir-fried rice stick noodles. It is almost fried in the similiar style as the Hokkien noodle...emmm... this is my first try. Need to improve...



soak the rice stick in cold water for 1 day.


put into a bigger bowl as the stick noodles will expand a little bit.. change the water after 10 hours..



finally...ready to serve...


ingredients include... lean meat, prawns, shallot, garlic, chinese cabbage, carrots, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, pinch of salt to taste.. ai ooh...hv to peep at a restaurant one day..

Today's Chinese Painting class



Today i visited my teacher HONG POK GIAK, during her painting class. They are drawing this flower that grows on the pond. In the pond there are tapoles. The flower looks purprish blue, a very sweet and fresh colour... the drawing itself looks very refreshing..... what a day !!

a young artist..in the making.... the teacher will not encourage us to sit while we draw. So be prepared to stand for an hour and half ! Good exercise.....



my teacher also master the Chinese Calligraphy.... anyone interested to learn, can take up this lesson from her.. She is naming her painting of the day and writing it on the blackboard for all of us to see. Each painting will have a name, the date and the writer..

it is fun, pick up this art, no venture no gain...

Snacking away..

one of my favourite past time is watching Astro TV series and munching away a packet of potato chips... what kind of potato chips??...any type...




This is Wise BBQ potato chips... everyone's favourite...What about you?? eat it yourself to see..what is life anyway...

Apple and Spice Muffin



i have this muffin receipe. It is TASTY.. you can try it out too.


APPLE AND SPICE MUFFINS...

2 cups plain flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup chopped, peeled and cored apples (green or red)

1 egg, lighty beaten

1 cup milk

2 tablespoons melted butter.

1. Sift flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon and nutmeg into a large bowl. Stir in brown sugar and apple.

2. combine egg, milk and butter and mix well. add egg mixture all at once to the flour mixture. Stir gently with a fork until all ingredients are just moistened.

3. spoon batter into greased muffin cups or paper cups filling 2/3 full. bake 15-20 mins until golden brown ina preheated oven of 200c.

SERVE WARM WITH butter..
